The rapid growth in electric commercial vehicles across urban distribution fleets has created a new set of parts requirements. To meet it, we have added our first product range for electric commercial vehicles to stock.
Coverage
- Brake system: components that see less use because of regenerative braking and are therefore more prone to corrosion. On electric vehicles linings wear more slowly, while disc and caliper corrosion becomes the more frequent problem.
- Suspension: higher load capacity suspension and damper components to suit the additional mass of the battery pack.
- Thermal management: pumps, hoses, expansion tanks and coolant products for the battery cooling circuit.
- Tyres: high load index, low rolling resistance tyres suited to electric commercial vehicle use.
- Cab and body hardware: mirrors, headlamps, wipers, door mechanisms and interior trim components.
Why the maintenance profile differs
Electric commercial vehicles have no engine oil, fuel filter, clutch or exhaust system. Three items take their place in importance: brake system corrosion (because regenerative braking uses the friction brakes so little), tyre wear (accelerated by high torque and battery mass) and the thermal management system (critical because it directly affects battery life).
That difference requires fleets to rethink their maintenance schedules. Applying a conventional diesel service calendar to an electric vehicle books workshop time for items that do not exist while allowing genuinely critical ones to slip through.
High-voltage safety
Work on high-voltage systems requires authorised personnel and dedicated equipment. For that reason we do not offer high-voltage components on general sale and work only with qualified workshops. A high-voltage safety module has been added to the second term of our dealer training programme.
What comes next
